Hey, duvet people. For you, “bed rot” is more of a genuine hell than a cute Sunday activity. I see you. This is exhaustedly where we write, read, watch, sew or just stare at the ceiling through fatigue together.

I’m Charlotte, a dynamically Disabled/chronically ill author, screenwriter and film-scene-cross-stitcher with a period drama obsession and a hell of a lot of opinions. My debut novel Overspill published with HarperCollins (Akan Books) in 2025 and was named a top debut voice by Audible and NetGalley. My short films Chronic and Sleepyhead have been selected and award-winning at festivals internationally.

This is a space for ranting, reflecting and recommendations so stick around x

What to expect:

STITCHES — a monthly update on writing, cross-stitching, the body and the way they’re all threaded together to create chaos and creativity. It gets lonely over here so let’s be on the journey together!

MEDIA MOMENTS — an offering of film, TV, book and music recommendations with some pop culture moments in there too. Think anything from literary fiction reviews to new cinema releases and even reality TV.

HAUTE QUOTES — learn to write better with inspiration from some incredible writing. I couldn’t be more obsessed with my Quote Notebooks, which I’ve been scribbling in for 15 years. They’re my go-to for when I’m feeling a bit stuck with writing. It would be cruel to keep them to myself! You’re about to become a pro at similes, character introductions and setting descriptions.

ARTICLES — scattered in there will be the occasional longer form thoughts either on something related to my writing practice or a thought that just won’t get out of my brain until I spill it somewhere. I make no promises on how frequent these will be but I’ve never been one to not have an opinion on everything…

Examples of things we’ll probably chat about:

  • writing books three & four

  • an inside look into debut author life & the second book journey

  • being a newly repped, industry-baby screenwriter

  • making a short film (called Seams) from fundraising to release

  • disability grief

  • loneliness

  • pop culture around films & TV

  • what film scene to stitch next

  • any questions you have/advice you need on the above
